The public health department hasn't seen any large outbreaks from any of the schools.

Health leaders believe, kids are catching the virus outside of school.

Just like anyone else in the community, kids contract covid just like anyone else, they might be household contacts or some other reasons that a child might have been exposed.

And once they have been identified they have been exlucded from school once their infectious period is over.

Shasta county public health recommends: k-to-12 schools close if at least 5-percent of its staff and students test positive within 14 days.

If a school district has more than 25-percent of its schools go back to distance learning, then the whole district would switchback.

Public health says so far none of the schools in the county are at that threshold.
