Vo - georgia tech researchers created this map to show people how risk percentages of covid-19can affect an event gathering i talked with a freshman at the university of louisiana, harley rawlas and she tells me she would't go to a party with a large group of people during covid -- sot - "it says 63% possibility, i can catch covid so i would not go because i really do't want it.

"vo - one of the researchers that helped create the map and a current research scientist atgeorgia tech, stephan beckett says they gather updated data from covid-19 cases state by state, they ingest the data and then translate that into risk percentages ..

Sot - "i think the risk number is a bit easier to think about than the number of cases in thearea, i think that it can be quite difficult sometimes to understand what that means."

Vo - when you go on the map you can change the number of people at an event and then find outthat risk percentage beckett tells me that this map is a good tool for people looking to host huge events around acadiana during covid sot - "it allows people to see what we think the risk is in a certain region, and help them make their own decision and mind up, i guess in some ways in similar to a weather map, so you might get a percentage chance that it might rain and if you think i's going to rain, you might bring your umbrella so we are kind of thinking in that kind of direction.."vo - beckett says we should all take covid-19 seriously .... sot - "the risk is non 0 across us, we kind of see that on a national scale in terms of thenumbers now, looks like w're going to have a big surge of cases again across the country .."vo tag - beckett says that they do plan to expand the tool to more countries and regions in the near future to help stop the spread of covid-19..
