L testing.

Providence kristin filer explains the importance of getting it in this mornings health alert.

And then once we can identify all these issues, um, then they can refer you off their maternal, fetal medicine specialists that will follow you.

Closely.

Insurance pays for these people.

These are people that can really find, get a good grasp on what's going on.

This is their specialty.

Um, and the other thing too, is that we need to have a baseline with mom.

Mom's vitals, her blood pressure, her heart rate, um, what's her baseline heart rate, um, blood pressure, her mom's vitals, her with mom.

Have a baseline is that we need to the other thing too, is that we need to have a baseline with mom.

Mom's vitals, her blood pressure, her heart rate, um, what's her baseline weight, because these are all things that are going to fluctuate a lot during pregnancy.

And, uh, sometimes they can be life-threatening and we need to manage them.

So, um, at home when you find out you're pregnant, while you're waiting to see your doctor five things that you can do while you're at home.

Okay.

So full like acid, really good one for help helping prevent, um, problems with babies.

Starting before you get pregnant with ford, they recommend 400 to 800 micrograms of folic acid.

Obviously you want to talk to your doctor, see what they recommend, but that is kind of the guideline.

How, where you want to be.

Um, a lot of prenatal vitamins have that in that, but chuck is the folic acid.

Is it in that 400 to 800 microgram window?

Um, stopping drinking and smoking smoking.

They have found as a really direct correlation with having a low birth weight and baby.

So stopping smoking early, not smoking during pregnancy.

Um, also drinking that first 10 weeks is really, really crucial.

For fetal development and especially with alcohol fetal alcohol syndrome really happens, um, specifically in that, in that first trimester.

And then you want to know, um, you know, we want to make sure that.

Things like asthma, diabetes, depression, um, that one tends to get missed.

So depression, blood pressure, um, thyroid and epilepsy.

These are things that you want to make sure are under control.

And so when you go see your doctor, they need to be aware of these things.

And don't forget that depression one.

That's a really good one.

Cause there's a lot of medications you can stay on.

While you're pregnant to help battle that, you know, a lot of hormone mood swings that happen.

And a lot of that can be detrimental to mom, which then can be detrimental to baby.

So that brings me to what medications are you on?

There's a lot of stuff that.

Women don't realize that you actually can't take while you're pregnant.

I remember like, you know, retina on my face and some of my eyelash cream i couldn't even use.

And i didn't realize so, uh, lotions that you're using medications, supplements, um, things that you're drinking all may not be appropriate for baby.

So knowing what those are, writing them down, having them available to give your doctors so they know, is this something that i can keep using or do it and do i have to scratch it all?

Um, and then of course, avoiding toxic substances is the last thing that you got to make sure, um, you know, it seems like, you know, rodent feces, which i don't know if we're all hanging around, but cat feces is a big one.

You can't even clean the cat box out because of that talks most plasmosis, which can cause which is this parasite that can cause a spontaneous miscarriages and women and other issues.

So.

Making sure you're staying away.

I know we're covid and we're bleaching everything, but putting the mask on and watching, um, some of the toxic substances that we're handling and women are handling.

So making sure.

And that's another thing too, when you go see the doctor, they're gonna wanna go through all
