Kimt news 3's alex jirgens is sharing new findings from governor kim reynolds about how much the virus has ravaged nursing homes care facilities.

"* including managing outbreaks and protecting residents and staff.

As we told you earlier, iowa governor kim reynolds stated about 1 fourth of the state's long term care facilities are facing a covid?*- 19 outbreak.

Right now ?

"* 114 long term care facility outbreaks have been reported out of the state's 443 facilities.

The governor says that hospitalization s in the hawkeye state have slightly decreased ?

"* and it's importat for "yesterday was the first day in weeks that we saw a decrease in the overall number of iowans hospitalized.

This gives us hope as well, but one day is far, far, far from a downward trend."

Earlier this week ?

"* i reported that good shepherd health center in mason city has had to deal with two outbreaks this year.

Other facilities in almost every county in north iowa have had to deal with it ?

"* who has reportd 51 positive cases ?

Governor reynolds announced that 14 million cares act dollars will be allocated towards long term care facilities across the state to assist with increased costs related to testing and staffing.///
