Are increasing across north mississippi.

And that increases the need for personal protective equipment -- not just for doctors and nurses but for first responders too.

In march and april that we still haven't received."

"right now we have some ppes for responders.

But of course, with the continuing spike that we know is going to happen,we can always use more."

Clay county ema director torrey williams showed me a small amount of personal protective equipment used to protect first responders in the county.

But he says he definitely is going to order some more for (first responders?) because of the rising coronavirus numbers.

"what this office is doing is attempting to procure additional ppe because it will be needed."

Williams adds that he is reaching out to several vendors for ppe and and mississippi emergen cy management agency for more equipment.

But its been tough to find .

"we are getting low.

We did have some times where we were scraping the bottom of the barrel for ppe or we had ppe that we couldn't get at all..

And its still certainly , to this day, there is still some ppe that we cannot get.we've still been waiting on orders that we placed back in march and april."

That was wtva's wayne hereford reporting.

Williams says he is concerned about the ppe right now in the county especially with the county's coronavirus numbers expected to rise after thanksgiving.
