Swim season will look like this the coronavirus pandemic has impacted the sports world in more ways than one.

For the fall sports season..

Social distancing for outdoor sports was manageable... but now that we have to head indoors for winter sports..

That could be a challenge.

Andrew garcia has a look at what the high school swim season will look like this year.

The high school swimming season is officially under way and here in vanderburgh county, it was decided that no fans would be permitted at swimming events.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to swim but very sad for the families.

Especially the families who have seniors that will be unable to watch their kids live but will have the opportunity to have it live streamed.

So, we're just lucky that we have the opportunity to participate in our sport.

At first i was really disappointed.

I love having fans and my family watch me however, it's ok.

For me, having the team around, they're big supporters and they're my number one supporters and having frances and dave hopefully cheer us on that's all we need to do well.

Castle high school will be one of the few schools in our area that will have fans in attendance, in part because of the size of its facility, though those fans will be admitted in a limited capacity.

We will have seats marked so that it is socially distanced up there.

I do know that everyone has to come in with an adult.

So even our swimmers that aren't swimming, they cannot come unless they have an adult with them.

Fans and swimmers have to have masks.

Swimmers have to have their masks on all the way until they step onto the diving block and then once they are done swimming they have to put that mask right back on, just we need to do our part so that this does not spread.

My first reaction was that we were really lucky to be able to have fans since i know there are a ton of schools that can't.

Obviously limiting the fans kind of stinks because they really bring a lot of energy to swim meets.

But we were fortunate to be able to have any at all.

Swim meets in 2020 will look different, student athletes are understanding of the fact that this is the safest option so that they can have a complete season.

Daniel- i was lucky to have a team that was really accepting of all those things, like they took it in stride and we're kind of working on cheering each other on and just trying to hype each other up instead of having fans.

Newkirk- we weren't very sure if we were going to, however lloyd opened and we were all just very grateful to have a season and i think no matter the outcome were going to be able to know that we persevered through pandemic and everything to be able to swim.

For 44 sports,
