Bus accident on Champlin Avenue

Children were on board a Fort Plains school bus that crashed on Champlin Avenue Friday afternoon.

Following breaking news of a school bus rollover.

It happened on champlin avenue.

Kids were on board.

Kristin and jason, what you are seeing behind me now is not what champlain avenue looked like just two hours ago.

This road was closed to through traffic because right here in front of the house of the good shepard there was a car-school bus accident that resulted in the bus turning over.

The fort plain central school bus tipped over on its right side after on the suv collided with it on its driver side based on the damages we see.

The new hartford police department says that this accident is still in its prelminary stages, but what we do know now is that there was one person in the s-u-v - the driver - and there were students on the school bus along with the bus driver.

We do not know how many students there were.

It is also not known why a fort plains bus was driving in this area.

Upon arriving to the scene, i saw about 3-4 emergency medical service vehicles driving away to the hospital.

We dont know which hospitals they were going to or what passengers were inside.

The suv involved was towed away about an hour ago, the bus was towed away at 4:30.

New hartford pd tells me that we will have more information throughout the evening - as it becomes clear - on the cause of this very scary accident and the status on the individuals involved.
