Decorative Bikes Line North Main Street This Spring

The tri-state is already starting to see the signs of spring---and one community is looking to spread some seasonal cheer during these hard times... 44news reporter megan diventi is in evansville with more on these efforts rolling in.... megan?

If youe driven down north main street lately--- you might have noticed these bikes on display... they're lined from franklin street to columbia street..... the jacobsville area community corporation--- is working to spruce up north main street... just recently--- the nine vintage bikes---were each donated and decorated by hand... organizers say there has been a lot of positive feedback from the art installations... "i just wanted something to decorate north main street, it makes people feel good and they are cute.

The saturday i put them out i had people calling to me saying they liked the bikes.

I was talking to business owners along north main street who are all really into it, so i'm glad we did that."

Merkel says there was a bit of a set-back this past winter when some of her other bikes were stolen-- but that's not deterring her from starting again this spring... i'm told each bike take about 15 minutes to paint---but that's not including the drying process--or adding spring decorations... merkel says the hope is to eventually work on other small projects in the community... she recently accepted some more bikes from people here in the community.
