Delhi's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital receives 5 MT oxygen, highest in 3 days

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi received five metric tonnes of oxygen early on Sunday.

The hospital received the life-saving gas after an all-night scramble for oxygen refill.

Hospital had raised alarm on Saturday night, saying its stock would last only an hour.

There were 130 patients in ICU including 30 on invasive ventilation when the SOS was sent.

The tanker finally arrived at 4:15 am and delivered 5 metric tonnes of medical oxygen.

This was the highest volume that the hospital received in last three days in one refill.

Hospital’s spokesperson said the oxygen was running in full pressure after a long time.

Some hospitals in Delhi, however, continue to grapple with severe shortage of oxygen.

On Friday, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital had reported death of 25 of its 'sickest' patients.
