MORRIS-JUMEL MANSION - Oldest home in Manhattan (New York, NY)

Built in 1765 as a Summer home for British General Roger Morris.

After he fled to England at the start of the American Revolution the house was used by Gen George Washington as his headquarters during the Battle of Harlem Heights.

Later the House was owned by French Merchant Stephen Jumel and his wife Eliza.

After Stephen passed away Eliza married former Vice-President Aaron Burr in the Parlor on the 1st floor.
