A new survey about Thanksgiving food costs was released by the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) on Nov.
15, CNN reports.
According to the survey, preparing food for 10 people will cost an average of $61.17.
That's 4.5% less than last year's average of $64.05, a record high.

While Thanksgiving may cost less for most people this year, it will still be 25% more expensive than it was in 2019, CNN reports.

From September to October of this year, food prices increased by 0.3%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Still, the holiday's centerpiece, turkey, will cost 5.6% less than last year.
On average, shoppers can expect to spend about $27 for a 16-pound bird.
Efforts to limit the spread of avian bird flu have also reduced prices.
Traditionally, the turkey is the most expensive item on the Thanksgiving dinner table.
Turkey prices have fallen thanks to a sharp reduction in cases of avian influenza, which have allowed production to increase in time for the holiday, Veronica Nigh, senior economist at the AFBF, via CNN.
