Canada stays course on North Atlantic right whale protections

There are only about 366 North Atlantic right whales left in the world. Many right whale deaths are caused by entanglement in fishing gear and collisions with vessels, something the Canadian government has started to address in recent years with speed restrictions and fishing area closures.
