ESE Entertainment's K1CK esports team to compete in $1M Apex Legends Global Series Championship in EMEA region

ESE Entertainment Inc (CVE:ESE) (OTCQB:ENTEF) announced that its esports team K1CK qualified for the Apex Legends Global Series Championship in the EMEA group for the 2021 season. Apex Legends is a “battle royale”-style game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. Teams in the competition have the chance to win a US$102,000 prize in the EMEA group, with the total prize pool being at least $1 million. In the tournament, teams begin in the Group Stage where they will be divided into groups of up to 10 teams. The Round Robin portion sees each group compete against each other group before total points across the Group Stage are used to advance 20 teams into their region’s Championship Finals. The finals will use the Match Point format and award all US$1 million among the teams. K1CK is a European esports veteran, founded in 1998. The group manages esports teams that compete across multiple games and platforms. ESE acquired K1CK in January 2021. “We are thrilled to see the strides that K1CK has made, they continue to improve and participate in larger, global tournaments, and the ALGS is a key example,” ESE CEO Konrad Wasiela said. “Qualifying to compete on a global level in tier 1 tournaments with significant prize pools, such as the Apex Legends Global Series, is exactly what we had planned for K1CK. The team continues to execute and put us in a position to succeed.
