Effort to end mandated hazard pay for grocery store workers fails in Seattle City Council vote

An effort to override former Mayor Jenny Durkan's veto maintaining the extra $4 an hour failed to receive enough votes Tuesday. Since its adoption, grocery store chains and trade groups have rallied against the mandate, saying it makes some stores less financially viable.
