Pat McCrory falters, Vi Lyles cruises as field of candidates narrows in election year

In city races delayed from 2021 because of late Census results, Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles, a Democrat, cruised to a primary win with 84% of all votes. She will face Republican newcomer Stephanie de Sarachaga-Bilbao, who claimed 70.5% of votes in her primary.
