Lander 'alive and well' after company scores first US moon landing since Apollo era

The moon's newest arrival is said to be “alive and well” a day after landing. Intuitive Machines reported Friday that it's communicating with its lander, Odysseus. It's the first U.S. spacecraft to descend to the lunar surface in more than 50 years. But flight controllers in Houston are still trying to get a handle on its exact location and overall health. The company was shooting for the south polar region. With Thursday's touchdown, Intuitive Machines became the first private business to pull off a moon landing, a feat previously achieved by only five countries.
