Barges are bringing cranes to Baltimore to help remove bridge wreckage and open shipping route

Massive barges carrying cranes are heading to Baltimore to begin the challenging work of removing twisted metal and concrete from the collapsed bridge that’s blocking a key shipping route. U.S. Coast Guard officials have said that the barges are on their way to the spot where the Francis Scott Key Bridge crossed the Patapsco River. It's not clear when they will arrive. The devastation is so extensive that officials said they’d need to start clearing away the wreckage before resuming the search for the remaining missing workers. The superintendent of Maryland State Police says divers are no longer able to safely navigate in the area. He warns that “there’s no definitive timeline.”
