Stock market today: Asian shares mostly rise as investors look to earnings and inflation signs

Asian shares are mostly higher as investors looked ahead to earnings reports from top global companies and a consumer prices report that will be a gauge for U.S. inflation. Benchmarks rose in Monday morning trading in Tokyo, Seoul, Sydney, Hong Kong and Shanghai. Wall Street ended with a rally last week as a strong report on employment showed the U.S. economy continues to chug along. The S&P 500 rose 1.1%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 307 points and the Nasdaq composite rose 1.2%. U.S. employers added a surprisingly strong number of jobs in March, while gains in wages eased some inflation fears.
