Jobless claims hit new pandemic low for third straight week, as labor market picks up

Americans filed 553,000 first-time unemployment claims last week, the Labor Department reported Thursday. While numbers remain elevated, the upward momentum signals that growing vaccinations, loosening business restrictions and warmer weather are helping to heal the jobs market.
