Colorado-based abortion fund sees rising demand. Many are from Texas, where procedure is restricted

A Colorado abortion fund said Thursday it’s helped hundreds access abortion in the first months of 2024, the majority arriving from Texas where abortion is restricted. The new data reveals an increase in demand each year since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. The high court’s decision left a patchwork of state bans, restrictions and protections across the country. Cobalt Abortion Fund provides financial support for both travel expenses and abortion procedures. In 2021, it spent $6,000 to help 34 people with practical support. Those numbers rose to $285,000 for some 350 people in the first months of 2024.
