Four tiger cubs have died from starvation in a reserve forest in Coimbatore, India, after their mother abandoned them. This brings the total number of tiger deaths in the Nilgiris district to 10 in the past month. Forest officials discovered the cubs on September 14 and managed to rescue one weak cub, but it died despite treatment. Postmortem examinations revealed that the cubs had not eaten for over a week. NGO president K Kalidasan highlighted the need for the forest department to prevent tiger deaths from poisoning.
