The ruling alliance in Maharashtra, consisting of the BJP, Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar's faction of the NCP, dominated the gram panchayat elections by winning in 1,350 rural local bodies. The BJP won the highest number of gram panchayats with 743, followed by Ajit Pawar's NCP with 371 and Shiv Sena with 240. The split in the NCP affected the chances of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, and Ajit Pawar's gains have increased his power within the government. The BJP also performed well across Maharashtra, while the Congress struggled to secure victories.
