India advocates for sovereign, independent state of Palestine at UN, opposes violence

India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj, has advocated for the resumption of direct negotiations towards establishing a sovereign, independent, and viable state of Palestine living peacefully alongside Israel. Kamboj also highlighted India's opposition to terrorism and its commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Palestine. In a separate development, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will host a virtual BRICS Extraordinary Joint Meeting to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres participating.
