The peace agreement signed between the Indian government and the Ulfa faction led by Rajkhowa ensures the time-bound implementation of all clauses of the pact. It also promises to safeguard the cultural identity and land rights of the indigenous people of Assam. The representation of the indigenous communities will not be reduced in future delimitation exercises. The settlement mentions the Ulfa faction, but not the review petition of the Assam government on the NRC. Ulfa commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah's faction may join talks after the pact is signed.
