How demand for Maratha quota took dramatic turn

The politically influential Maratha caste and the more populous Other Backward Class (OBC) in Maharashtra are facing deepening social tensions over the quota issue. Marathas, comprising roughly 30% of the state's population, are demanding a quota, while OBCs, accounting for around 52% of the population, oppose Marathas encroaching on their existing quota.
