Turkish police arrest 22 over alleged links to 2016 coup endeavor

(MENAFN) Semi-official Anadolu Agency said in a report that on Monday, May. 24 Turkey arrested 22 suspects as a minimum over their suspected ties to a network accused of planning a coup endeavor in 2016. Eight suspects were arrested in the northwestern province of Edirne while they were attempting to illicitly traverse into Greece. A number of 14 other suspects were detained in concurrent drives around 17 cities over a probe conducted by prosecutors in Balikesir province. The agency said that the suspects comprised active-duty military personnel and dismissed soldiers.
