*MIAMI, FL / ACCESSWIRE / October 29. 2021 / *Dance NOW! Miami has been leading the South Florida community through performances, innovative collaborations, education and advocacy for 22 years. The dance company recently received a high honor from the mayor of Miami Beach, Dan Gelber. Gelber declared September 30th, 2021 as Dance NOW! Miami Day.

The Company was given this honor after their recent tour to Portugal, and collaboration with Dança em Diálogos and Arte Institute from Lisbon. Dance Now was the first dance company to travel from Florida to Europe since the pandemic began. They represented Miami Beach with the Sister Cities International, the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, and Miami Dade County, and presented a breathtaking performance at the Casino Estoril as part of the RHI Festival.

DNM and DeD performed "Anusim, what is hidden is never lost," a piece inspired by the plight of the Jews of Portugal, who endured the inquisition of 1497. Dance NOW! worked with Dança em Diálogos for more than a year, choreographing and practicing via Zoom and WhatsApp. The strategy was a huge success, and the cross-cultural performance was attended by numerous dignitaries including the Mayor of Cascais, Carlos Carreiras, Minister of Culture for Cascais Salvato Telles de Menezes, as well as the Acting US Ambassador Kristin M. Kane.

The company presents several major projects annually, including original work from the Artistic Directors, created individually and collaboratively. The Daniel Lewis Dance Sampler is produced in collaboration with Miami Dance Futures, the Florda Dance Education Organization, Dance NOW! Miami, New World School of the Arts, and Duncan Theater Palm Beach State College.
