Apple’s next-generation iPhone is expected to launch in the fall of this year, and needless to say, the company is planning some big upgrades on this device. One of the highlights is the transition from Lightning to USB-C. The European Commission has passed new regulations that require companies selling products on the continent to equip their devices with a universal USB-C port. This should help reduce electronic waste, the EU says, and also make charging more devices more convenient for users. Apple doesn’t want to wait until the very last minute to embrace USB-C, so the company is expected to adopt the new port as soon as this year.
