Durkan: No plans to search for new police chief this year; deputy chief appointed in interim

After Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best formally announced her retirement during a press conference on Tuesday, Mayor Jenny Durkan stated that the city will not begin the search to fill the role this year, appointing Deputy Chief Adrian Diaz to the position in the interim.
