A prison riot in South Carolina on Sunday left seven inmates dead and 17 others injured.

Officials say the riot at Lee Correctional Institution in Bishopville was the deadliest in the U.S. since 1993.

According to coroners, all seven deaths in the incident were the result of stabbing injuries.
