Stay safe on the roads: Strong gusty winds and a lot of snow approaching

Website wfft dot com.

Strong gusty winds and a lot of snow.that's what we're expected to see on the roadways in the morning.

Fox 55's melea vanostrand spoke with indiana state police about how you can prepare for tomorrow's storm.

Another weekend, more snow...fox 55 meteorologists say we're supposed to get a possible 4 to 6 inches of snow saturday."if the roadway looks like it might be a little bit wet, not snow covered, you may be driving with a false sense of security so be careful the speed limit signs that you see out there especially out here by us when its 65 mph.

Those are all under ideal driving conditions.

Iio "we're also predicted to have strong gusty winds, so it is advised to avoid driving altogether.

But if you do go on the roadways, it's best to have a plan.

"plan ahead.

Understand what the weather conditions are going to be like, not only where you plan to start your trips from, but along the way.oo "the past few days, state police has been towing any abandoned vehicles they find on the road ways to protect drivers, the vehicles themselves and making plowing easier for road crews.

"whether its by vehicles sliding off, debris getting kicked up by a plow or passing motor or another car, it's really to benefit everybody.

Ii and be prepared for any slid-offs..

"maybe a blanket, extra pair of gloves, a hat, cell phone charger, maybe a granola bar and some water."

It's also important to check local newscasts and indot for updated road conditions.

"there's a number of resources online that you can go to in.gov, particularly indiana department of transportation's website.

The weather does not cause crashes.

How we as motorists drive in the weather causes those crashes.

"in fort wayne, melea vanostrand, fox 55 news.
