Reuters reports that 49 people are dead and more than 20 are wounded in a mass shooting in New Zealand.

According to police, at least one gunman opened fire on Friday during prayers at two New Zealand mosques.

A gunman broadcast live footage of the attack on Facebook.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has condemned the act, saying: “this can now only be described as a terrorist attack”.New Zealand was placed on its highest security threat level.
