Some people have been at the lake all day.

For those of you at home still, parking here at lake tobosofkee is filling up.

(:01) (:58) (:42) families have been at lake tobosofkee all day, trying to make sure they have the perfect spot for the fireworks show.

"i love the 4th of july it s a the best day every people shoot off freworks, get in the water and have a great time."

Whether you re here to lay around, play a game of bags, (yes bags--not cornhole) , or take the perfect selfie for instagram, families say there s no better way than to spend the day at the lake.

"chillin grillin came out to enjoy the 4th of july."

Jermaron carter says hanging out with his family is nothing out of the ordinary.

"we love spending time together this a regular thing we chill like this on a regular basis" park director donald bracewell says a lot of work goes into getting the parks ready for the fourth.

Crews started prepping wednesday.

""we start with cutting grass it s probably about 15 acres we have to cut we have to set out 50 trash cans in each park ."

Bracewell the fireworks show will be an extra five minutes long this year.

20 full minutes, up from 15 last year.

Deputies and rangers are patrolling inside and outside the parks.

Bracewell says you should be extra careful if you re planning to watch the show outside the parks.

"that s where they usually park on the side of the street but the street does get conjested because so many people try to pull over and park but macon bibb county sheriff s office does a tremendous job on that issue."

Park gates close at eight.

The fireworks will start at nine.

There is a fee to get in: five bucks for cars, 15 bucks for passenger vans, and 30 bucks for vehicles c1 3 b13 holding 30 or more people.
