State Flooding 7/12/19

Emergency officials in yazoo county, are pleading, with citizens to have a plan, as tropical storm barry approaches- already there are many parts of yazoo county, under water.

It has been this way for about six months- the current water level, is the result of flooding from the steele bayou -and mississippi river.

As more rain comes-so will the floods .

For some people their homes have already been taken over by the high waters, forcing them to relocate entirely- other have been protecting their homes with homemade levies and sand bags-- but that may not be enough sot, jack willingham eoc director "what this means for ou community is i need everyone prepared as if they would for severe weather.

Make sure you have a weather radio with a battery in it make sure you have a plan in place if something happens, make sure you contact your relatives and let them know where you are and what your plan is so if something happens they know where to look for you if there is a problem" the extended floods have closed several streets in yazoo county, and have put a halt on some farmers ability to grow their crops for the season- we've got a reporter talking to farmers in calhoun county, on how the extra rain could affect their crops...hear from them tonight at 5.
