Residents reflect as Loeb Stadium is torn down

3 demolition crews ending an era in lafayette.

Loeb stadium started being torn down this morning.news 18' samantha thieke spoke with some of those who decided to stop for one last look.she shares why they say it's a bittersweet sight.

3&lt;nats norbert fisher "leaves a little void in my heart."norbert fisher had mixed emotions as he watched crews tear down loeb stadium wednesday morning.norbert fisher "just sad to see it go, but like i say, 'progress is progress'.

Hopefully the new one will be better."the same goes for bill balser.bill balser "just to watch them tear down a big part of my childhood.

It's going to be a good thing, but also a sad thing today for me."sam stand up "as you can see behind me, crews have made great progress already.

Demo is supposed to last several weeks, but that's nothing compared to the amount of memories that have been made here in the last 80 years."norbert fisher "my dad used to bring us up here to watch the lafayette red sox to play baseball on this stadium right here."

Bill balser "my family that's not here any longer used to come here and watch me play.

Just have a lot of fond memories."balser says he's anxious to make some new ones at the new multi-use stadium.bill balser "i can't wait for it to get here so i can come and watch the ball games with my son."while the old stadium crumbles and goes away.the memories won't.

Norbert fisher "i got a spot in my heart for this stadium.

That's all i can say."

Reporting in lafayette, st news 18.> 3 the stadium is still on schedule to be finished by the end of 20-20.the lafayette aviators will play their 2020 home games at purdue's alexander field.their first season at the new loeb stadium will start in the spring of
