Sterling man now faces a murder charge for a gruesome murder earlier this month involving a hatchet.

There's more...according to the mt.

Sterling advocate...investig ators say they found the body wrapped in plastic in a freezer...thrown over the side of a cliff in the next county over.

In our top story at 11...abc 36's monica harkins went to mt.

Sterling today...monica police say the two were roommates... this home off locust street is where police believe the murder happened.

According to the advocate...officers say richard mcgaha and lenville josh smith both lived there.

The paper reports police accuse mcgaha of hitting smith in the head with a hatchet....killing him.

Today, i spoke with members of smith's family.

They say he was a loving father of four.

Smith's brother in law... says when the family hadn't heard from him in a few days they knew something was wrong.

His family reported him missing september sixth... according to the advocate...police say he was likely killed on the fourth.

"it's gruesome,uh just hard to comprehend someone capable of doing that to someone who was so caring.

It's heart breaking, the family is happy to have the closure and not wonder anymore, but still it's very heartbreaking.

" according to the paper, these four people were also arrested for their role in the murder... they all are accused of either helping clean up the crime scene... disposing of the body... or were there, but didn't report the crime.

Smith's family says three of his kids are still too young to understand what's going on.
