News now... another day of testimony starts in about three- hours in the trial of a la crosse man accused of killing a former girlfriend.

During opening statements yesterday ... district attorney tim gruenke argued erik sackett had motive to kill erin somvilai ... and that sackett's cell phone records tie him to the crime last summer.

The defense argues... somvilai was suicidal.

Police in alabama think they have found the body of a missing girl.

Three- year- old kamille mckinney was abducted from a birthday party more than a- week ago.

Her remains were found in a trash bin.

Two people will be charged in connection with her death.

Police say there's no apparent connection between the suspects ... and the family of the girl.

A public viewing will be held today in baltimore in honor of the late maryland congressman... elijah cummings.

Cummings died last week at the age of 68.

His body will lie in state tomorrow at the u-s capitol... ahead of his funeral on friday.

((ad lib weather)) "families lose millions in wages by taking unpaid leave, reducing their time at work to care for family members or paying for child care."

A new bill being circulated in madison would create a system for employees to contribute a portion of their paycheck to... then receive that pay during a family or medical leave'.

The bill would also expand existing family leave' law... to allow eligible employees to take time off to care for a sick grandparent... grandchild... or sibling.

Downtown la crosse has two fewer restaurants this morning.

Shady kate's' and kate's pizza amore' are permanently closed.

In signs posted at both restaurants ... owner kate gerrard says it's no longer financially possible to make ends meet.

She also thanks her customers and employees.

Happening today ... results of the latest marquette university law school poll come out.

Today's results will be from a survey of registered wisconsin voters ... asking for opinions about democratic presidential candidates ... as well as president donald trump.

This survey is also the first one marquette has done since the start of the impeachment inquiry against the president.

There are a lot of people going through the same thing and they need the same type of love and support and the extra push that everyone needs."
