India's space agency has revealed its humanoid robot prototype, preparing for its part in the test flight for "Gaganyaan" - the country's first manned mission to space.
The spacebound robot, dubbed "Vyommitra", will use its human-like design to mimic crew movement and activity and report to the Indian Space Research Organization in order to perfect the human flight.
Vyommitra will also be able to perform life-support operation activities, crew escape system tests, and monitor crew module parameters, among other things.
ISRO chief, Kailasavadivoo Sivan, said four astronauts have been selected for the manned flight and they would go for training in Russia later this month.
He also said they will send a test flight by the end of 2020, as a preparation operation for Gaganyaan, which is expected to take off by December 2021.
