Three people in hospital after chase ends in cash

This morning three people are in the hospital after leading police on a two county chase.

Officials with the boaz police department say the high speed chase started in etowah county and ended in a crash in marshall county.

A state trooper tried to pull the van over for a traffic stop, but the driver kept going.

Waay 31's rodneya ross joins us live now with how that chase ended.

The chase ended in boaz when the driver crashed into a business on highway 431...but not before hitting three police cruisers.

Take a look at your screen...you're looking at that van crashed into a an electronic store.

The boaz assistant police chief says a man was driving the van and two women were passengers.

After the state trooper tried to pull the van over the driver kept going... he hit three boaz police cruisers...and then crashed into the store.

One of the officers had minor injuries -- the other two were okay.

As for the driver and his passengers -- all three were taken to the hospital...we're told one was even taken by helicopter -- but this morning it's unclear exactly who was airlifted.

This morning we also know officers tried to use spike strips to stop the van -- but it's not clear if they worked.

We are working to learn more details such as who the names of the people in the van, their conditions, and any charges they may be facing.
