Although homes have been destroyed after an EF-4 tornado tore through the Nashville area, volunteers are coming together to start the rebuilding process.

Government to rebuild.

You're taking a live look at the damage in donelson, tennessee.

That's about six miles east of downtown nashville.

You can see homes are destroyed - and there's a lot of work left to do as people recover.

But homeowners told us they're sure nashville will rebuild - in part because of the help from so many volunteers.

Today - waay 31's sophia borrelli spoke to people our cleaning up today - about the clean-up efforts look like in this neighborhood.

There is so much devastation here.

Homes destroyed like this one behind me.

But i am going to get behind the camera so you can see this.

I have seen volunteers handing out bottles of water, snacks, food.

They're doing anything to help these people who have lost everything.

I saw people helping to find belongings or put piles of debris in the roads.

One woman i spoke with said there was major damage around her.

She told me her family would never have been able to recover alone.

"it's been amazing.

All of the neighbors, strangers, people i don't know.

People have been bringing food, water, people have been helping.

We wouldn't have been able to do any of this.

There was a tree that was totally blocking the driveway.

They had that cleared in 30 minutes."

The volunteer state really making its name proud.

If you're in north alabama you can help as well - they will need more man power as the days go on.
