Not "no confirmed cases..it's not touched our district in any way.

What we are wanting to do is be prepared...not panicked."" the vigo county school corporation is taking steps to keep students safe from covid-19.

Tonight...we're learning more about what this could mean for students and staff.

Good evening and thanks for joining us.

The vigo county school corporation announced a two hour delay for friday.

It's all in an effort to prepare the corporation for possible covid-19 cases.

That's the disease caused by the coronavirus.

Tonight...we're learning new information about just how many people in the state of indiana and illinois have been affected.

Here's what we know.

The coronavirus has affected four more people in indiana..

That brings the total number of cases in the state to 10.

Those cases are in johnson, howard, hendricks, adams, boone, marion and noble counties.

In the state of illinois....officials have confirmed around 25 cases.

We want to stress... there have been "no" cases of the virus confirmed anywhere in the wabash valley at this point.

That said... the vigo county school corporation wants to make sure it's prepared.

That's where news 10's dominic miranda is live.

He joins us now with more on what's ahead.

Rondrell... superintendent dr. rob haworth held a press conference here today discussing the covid-19 instructional plans.

The big news of the day is that vigo county schools will have a 2 hour delay this friday march 13th.

This is to train staff on this instructional plan that the school corporation is calling the corona e-learning plan.

This is in preparation should the school corp have prolonged school closures.

Haworth says the curriculum department has worked with the state department of education.

This is to ensure these lesson plans are considered e-learning opportunities.

This is also so these closure days would not have to be made up.

Haworth says this e-learning plan does not rely on computer access.

For students without computer access...there will be hard copy "at home learning packets."

Dr. haworth says this is simply being prepared for the worst case scenario.

They do not forsee closing school...but it's possible...and the school corporation has a plan to continue teaching your children.

//////// "we not only see this as a way to meet the mandate of 180 days..we also see it as an opportunity to continue to engage our children educationally."

///////// haworth says the school corporation will continue to take extra cleaning precautions of classrooms...equipment..and school busses.

They will work in partnership with the vigo county health department to make the best decision moving forward.

Reporting live in terre haute..

I'm dominic miranda..
