Homeless camping consequences
Homeless camping consequences

Just one week after Chico City Council restricted homeless encampment evictions over 10 people, concerns are growing among community members.

Homeless camps in parks... during the coronavirus pandemic.

Action news now reporter brandon benitez joins us live from lower bidwell park... he's investigating your concerns about the repercussions of the move.

Haley, i spoke to teri dubose who's the president of the citizens for a safe chico.

On their facebook page she shared photos with me taken just yesterday at comanche creek... she -- along with many other concerned community members -- are already seeing increases in trash built up in places that homeless encampments are setting up in... dubose says this trash isn't being picked up which leaves her questioning what the future holds... the trash is going to build up.

The needles are going to be found everywhere and i think it's just the beginning of a real mess we're going to have on our hands.

I just find a lot of it a form of enabling and unfortunately a lot of our volunteers in the city with really great groups, great intentions have been out doing clean-ups and they decidded to not do those clean-ups anymore i tried getting a hold vice mayor alex brown to help shed some light on these concerns... no response yet but i'm hopeful to get some of these questions answered soon... reporting live in chico, brandon benitez.

Action news now coverage you can count on... thanks brandon
