Right now, some groceries are hard to come by due to the coronavirus pandemic and many are looking for relief.

Waay 31's rodneya ross joins us live with how the city of huntsville is working to provide food for those in need.

Today -- the city's community development department will join forces with the food bank of north alabama to give out 300 food boxes along with bags of potatoes and apples.

Right now some grocery stores across the country are struggling to keep up with the demand.

Especially after three major companies announced the closures of three meat plants.

We checked in with a local super market to see if we're seeing similar problems here in north alabama.

They told us they are not.

Madison county commission chairman dale strong told us the key to making sure everyone has access to groceries is for people to only buy what they need.

It's just not a concern at this point again -- the big takeaway here is to not stock up -- but only get what you need.

Today's food boxes will be distributed at westside gym in huntsville.
