Pregnancy during a pandemic
Pregnancy is already a stressful time... A pandemic makes it even harder.

Pregnancy is an exciting?

But sometimes stressful time in a woman's life.... becoming even more stressful right now?

In the middle of a pandemic.

If you or a loved one are expecting a baby?

You may have some questions.

Kimt news three's raquel hellman is getting the answers.

She joins us live in rochester?

Raquel?xxx while there are less people going in and out of the doors here at mayo clinic over concerns of catching the coronavirus?

Women expecting a baby might not have a choice.

And they're not only thinking about their safety?

But also the safety of their unborn child.

Today i talked to mayo clinic obstetrician regan theiler.

She tells me that pregnant women do not seem to be at an increased risk of getting the virus?

Or getting seriously ill if they do get it.

What they*don't know right now is if there is any risk to the*baby.

One question a lot of pregnant women have right now is if its safe for them to go to the hospital to deliver?

Or should they consider changing their birth plan.

I asked doctor theiler that question.

Here's what she has to say.xxx we are providing safe labor and delivery care and especially if you're a high risk patient, you have some other c?

Morbidity, this is your first baby, you're an older mom, you're diabetic, you're hypertensive, you've had prior ?

Sections, it is always absolutely safer for you to deliver in the hospital.

Another question pregnant women might have right now.... who can visit or be with them during the birth process?

Mayo clinic is allowing one consistent vistor through labor and delivery.

Live in rochester, raquel hellman, kimt news three./// thanks raquel.

She says the delvery process will be pretty much the same as it otherwise would be.

The only change you may notice is new moms may be asked to consider going home from the hospital earlier than they otherwise would?

And doing some of the follo?up care virtually or over the phone./// we aren't the only ones
