Regional reopenings could start May 15

Gov.

Andrew Cuomo says if regions meet certain criteria, they can start to reopen as soon as May 15.

Coronavirus crisis here at home.

But tonight -- we may be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel....at least here in the mohawk valley.

The governor says a statewide reopening is just not in the cards.

In two weeks... certain regions can begin to unpause.

The mohawk valley has met five of the seven metrics to reopen.

1.

There has been a 14 day decline in hospitalizations or under 15 new hospitalizations every three days.

2.

There has been a 14 day decline in hospital deaths or fewer than five deaths every three days.

3.

New hospitalizations are under two per 100 thousand residents.

4.

30 percent of local hospital beds are staying open.

5.

30 percent of local icu beds are staying open.

Those are the metrics met.

The two the region is still working to achieve.... 30 tests for every one thousand residents, per month.

And have at least 30 contact tracers per 100 thousand residents.

Again, may 15th is the date... but that doesn't mean go back to your old ways.

To reopen, businesses must..... - reduce density by adjusting hours.

- continue social distancing.

- restrict non- essential travel for employees.

- wear masks if in contact with others.

- implement strict cleaning standards.

- enact health screening process.

- trace, track and report cases.

And develop liability processes.
