Ashley Carter went to three different places in downtown Fayetteville, to ask people if they believed Tennessee reopened too soon.

5 deaths reported.

Thank you for being with us tonight.

I'm najahe sherman.

We start our indepth coverage with a look north.

It's now been nearly two weeks since tennessee reopened for business.

Just a couple of days ago on wednesday close contact services reopened and a majority of the conties while many made the decision to open, some experts say it came too early.

Waay 31's ashley carter joins us live, in lincoln county, asking the question, do you believe tennessee reopened too soon?

Ashley, what did people tell y you?

>> najahe, i went to three different places in downtown fayetteville today.

When i asked everybody this question, they told me no.

Some even drove from alabama to tennessee just to enjoy the dine-in services at restaurants.

Everybody told me they believe tennessee businesses are doing whatever it takes to keep everybody safe, and the reopening came just in time.

>> i looked at him and said let's go.

Talked him into it a little be it.

We took off?

>>: they drove a little less than two hours from coleman, alabama, just to be able to eat inside a restaurant.

Terry said she saw online fayetteville had reopened their dine-in services and she couldn't wait to get out of the house.

>> our senior centers are shut down.

All the stuff i usually do.

>> the wakes told me despite concerns that relaxed reopenings could result in a second wave of the virus, they don't believe the state chose to reopen too soon.

One business owner told me right now it's too early to say if the state reopened too soon.

>> that's just something we're going to have to see.

I'm thankful that we did go ahead and reopen because we're going to have to try to get our lives back to normal.

Her gift shop opened last wednesday.

They've been taking every precaution necessary to keep people safe, including not allowing more than ten people in the store at a time.

>> you can see some of my employee, they wear their masks.

We have the lights on, hand sanitizer and clorox wipes.

>> restaurant owners didn't want to speak with me today but allowed me to shoot video inside.

Many place these signs up or have tables closed off as a way to make sure people don't sit too close together.

All employees also wear masks and gloves.

Osgood says this is just a nor narmal for businesses and it's way things are going to have to be in order to prevent a second wave of the virus.

>> i think we're going to go back like we were and everybody is going to have to pro sceed with caution.

>> they weren't the only people i rarn into from alabama today.

People were excited to learn that alabama is reopening some more businesses on monday because they said it's good that they don't have to make that drive to tennessee anymore.
