Macon bars preparing to re-open in June

Macon bar owners say being closed for two months has hurt them, and are ready to open up next month.

Our top story tonight at 6... macon bar owners say ... being closed for two months hurts.

And they are ready to open up.

41nbc's tanya modersitzki has more on precautions bar owners say... they will take... once they are allowed to open again.

"we're not allowed to do curbside or anything so we have had zero revenue across the board in 2 months" the bar owner of a brooke haven, darrin ford, and owner of j-b-a, brandon lawler, say they're feeling the affects of covid-19..

But financially, ford says his new business and employees have been maintaining thanks to small business loans and programs. "if we can sustain these next few weeks we'll be okay we'll be able to open our doors."

Tuesday, governor brian kemp announced bars and event spaces will remain closed until may 31st.

Allowing ford, lawler and other bars to start preparing to open in june.

"we are designed to be a social networking atmopsphere so we're going to do what we can to continue that and make sure our customers healthy."

Ford says he's changing the schedule and buying p-p-e.

"making sure everything is cleaned and sanitized changing some things in our seating making sure we are social distancing and we're going to push for outdoor seating i just ordered some more outdoor seating yesterday."

Lawler says he's playing it by ear, waiting on kemp's requirements announcement.

"if they don't, i'll follow the restaurant guidelines.

Which are c1 3 b13 pretty strict."
