>> one of golf's biggest events of the year is pushing back, and example how technology be executed, still, it's the first major sporting event in the pandemic to be carried out.

So what does this mean for next year's tournament?

We're joined by scott reed, the 2021 championship, and with insight and hopefully insight on autism.

Have tickets gone on sale for this tournament?

>> no, we have a registration process, and anybody can go online.

And we started it in february, you can go online and register to get your place in line to buy tickets.

And you get assigned a purchase window.

When your purchase window opens, and you can buy the tickets that you like to buy, and that purchasing process would typically start on monday after the pga championship.

And that would be next monday, a week from today, but since you mentioned that this year's pga championship in san francisco is now going to be played in august, people have a few more months yet to register if they are interested in buying tickets, and then we'll start that process on august 10th, which will be that monday on the rescheduled dates for the pga championship.

>> and you answered my next question.

How has the pandemic affected this year's championship?

It has been pushed to august, and they're also considering a couple of different plans, one of which could be a pga tournament with no fans present.

Do we know yet what the plan is going to be?

>> no, not yet.

We're still operating that we're going to have fans, you know, in some form or fashion, but as you might know, the pga tour is starting their schedule in a few weeks, and their first four events are supposed to be with out fans but we would be the first major championship on the schedule.

And still yet to be determined if we'll have spectators or not in san francisco.

So regardless, we're going to be ready in one way or another to have the championship in august.

>> reporter: do you anticipate next year's tournament that maybe not as many fans are going to be allowed to watch the tournament take place?

>> yeah, i think it's too early to tell, until we kind of go through these -- until sports gets that going, and we see how it plays out, it will be too soon to tell.

And hopefully we'll be looking at this in the rear-vew mirror and won't have to make any drastic changes, but i'm sure that everybody is anticipating watching sports get going again, and we'll probably have things that will be different when we have the championship next year.

But hopefully the changes and the amount of people enjoying t.

Hopefully that won't be one of them.

>> and it brings a huge amount of revenue.

>> in 2012, there was an economic impact study, $193 million in impact, and we have alread done a study pre championship, heading into next year, it's going to be upwards of $240 million of economic impact for not only the area, but the state of south carolina.

So there's a reason why the pga is coming back.

It was very successful in 2012, and you know, just such a wonderful location with the golfers, and we're looking forward to having it next year.

>> we're talking about that, and let's talk about fun stuff, shall we?

Let's talk about the ocean course, because some people have golfed it regularly, and they say that its one of the most challenging courses they have ever played.

>> the players relish the challenge to the ocean course.

It's a masterpiece, and open in 1991 when we had the rider comep here, and it's always rated adds one of the top golf courses in the country if not the world.

And it's such a beautiful iconic facility, the ocean course is, and the wind, and the thing about the ocean course, it has the most holes on the ocean in any course on the east coast.

And it's always windy out there, and it's a challenge.

So looking forward to how they respond to that next year.

>> do you know at this point who could possibly competing in that tournament?

>> we always have the best feel for all of the major championships.

We're the only major that's all professionals playing, and last year, we had a top 100 in the world.

And unfortunately, justin thomas withdrew the week before with an injury, but with you always have the top 100 mayors in the wow.

So may 17th to the 23rd, and that's the date of 2021 that the pga should be taking place.

So let's cross our fingers that it will still take place.

So going back to the tournament in august, thinking they might not be playing there, that's still on the table and could change, and are they coming to south carolina for that too?

>> no, i don't think so.

We're doing everything in our power to keep it in san francisco, it's such a great city.

>> loom there too.

But for all intents and purposes, we're planning on it being there, and it's still in august, and we'll see how it goes.

>> thank you, scott.

I want to thank you so much, the players, the best, and we'll check the website to see when the tickets are
