According to Gov.

Brown, no more than 25 people are allowed in the building at one time.

As counties have been given the green light to reopen, what does that mean for local churches?

Will they still decide to gather?

Kezi 9 news reporter kennedy dendy is live in the studio to tell us the latest.

Kennedy?

Matt, renee--i spoke to a lot of pastors today about what worship will look like*not just over the next few weeks..but also*beyond this pandemic.

Some churches tell me they feel ready and hopeful with limited numbers and increased sanitation& so they*will be welcoming the faithful this weekend.

But others feel strongly that re- opening doors is not worth the risk.

Reverend adam briddell with first united methodist church reflected on the impact the pandemic will have on church gatherings in the future.

"we are absolutely planning for a lot of changes over the next year, maybe even two years as we learn more about the safety of basic christian practices like singing and how to do that well in enclosed spaces.

I dont think worship is going to look the same for some time."

Briddell says that his church doors will*not be open for in-person service this weekend...even with limited numbers.

They will continue to meet the needs virtually to ensure the safety of the entire congregation.

First united methodist church says they plan to honor their bishop's request of not be meeting*in person any sooner than june 15th..which could be extended even further.
