Mohawk Valley Community Fund shifts focus from relief to recovery
The mohawk valley covid-19 response fund so far has awarded over 870- thousand dollars to non-profits.
But with phased "reopening" of commercial and public activity underway... the community foundation of herkimer and oneida counties.... and our local united way chapter... will begin to shift its focus from relieving the community's immediate needs... to addressing longer- term recovery.
Since the fund began in mid-march... the money has been awarded to more than 50 non-profit organizations.
Requests for funding have now exceeded 1.5 million dollars.
Officials say that number shows how struggling non- profits will need even more help in the road to recovery but through all of this... they are still accepting contributions of any amount.
We'll put a link on wktv.com for ways in which you can donate.
Funds will go toward front-line organizations during the pandemic.
